Under the Factories Act, 1948, and corresponding state rules, factories must obtain and renew licenses to ensure safe, compliant production.

Who can apply?

Any manufacturing unit that:

  • Employs 10 or more workers with powered machinery, or

  • Employs 20 or more workers without powered machinery.

What you need to begin:

  • Approved building and factory layout plans

  • Application form (e.g., Form-1) and associated questionnaires

  • Identity documents and applicant company’s credentials (e.g., MOA/AOA, director details)

  • NOCs from the Fire Department, Pollution Control Board, Municipal Authorities, etc.

  • For renewals: Valid renewal forms (e.g., Form-4, Form-4B) and fee payment receipts.
